2026-27 UEFA Champions League Final to Be Held at Atletico Madrid's Metropolitano Stadium

September 11 -- The UEFA Executive Committee has officially announced that the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League final will be held at the Metropolitano Stadium, home of Atletico Madrid. The decision was made during a meeting in Tirana on the afternoon of September 11 local time.
The Metropolitano Stadium last hosted the Champions League final in 2019, when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to claim their sixth Champions League title. This will be the sixth Champions League final held in the city of Madrid. Prior to 2019, Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium had hosted the finals in 1957, 1969, 1980, and 2010.
The Metropolitano Stadium was originally known as the La Peineta Olympic Stadium, which was part of Madrid's Olympic bid. It was later transferred to Atletico Madrid and renovated into a professional football stadium with a capacity of 70,692. The stadium officially opened at the start of the 2017-18 season.
