Nicolas Pepe Named La Liga Player of the Month for August

On September 13, La Liga officially announced that Villarreal forward Nicolas Pepe has been awarded the La Liga Player of the Month for August. The award is jointly selected by La Liga and EA Sports.

The 30-year-old Ivorian striker delivered outstanding performances in the first three rounds of the season, establishing himself as a key figure in Villarreal's attack and helping the team secure a strong start with two wins and one draw. In the first round, Pepe provided an assist in the home match against Oviedo, sealing a 2-0 victory. In the second round, he scored his first goal of the season in an away game against Girona, contributing to Villarreal's 5-0 triumph. In the third round, Pepe found the net once again against Celta Vigo, securing a crucial point for his team.

With an impressive record of 2 goals and 1 assist, Pepe outperformed competitors such as Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, Espanyol’s Pere Milla, and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams to claim the award for the first time.
