Raheem Sterling Joins Feyenoord on Free Transfer Until End of 2025-26 Season
In a surprising twist to his career, former Chelsea and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has signed with Dutch Eredivisie giants Feyenoord as a free agent. The 31-year-old England international, capped 82 times for his country, agreed to a deal running until the end of the 2025-26 season following his mutual contract termination with Chelsea in January 2026.

Sterling, who last played competitively during a loan spell at Arsenal in May 2025, had been without a club for several months after falling out of favor at Stamford Bridge. His time at Chelsea saw him feature in 81 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing 12 assists since his £47.5 million move from Manchester City in 2022. Despite earlier Premier League success—including four league titles with City—the forward sought a fresh start to revive his form.

Feyenoord, currently pushing for the Eredivisie title and Champions League qualification, confirmed the move on February 12, 2026. Sterling will link up with head coach Robin van Persie, the former Manchester United and Arsenal striker. The player cited detailed discussions with Van Persie and the club's ambitious vision as key factors in his decision.

Fans reacted with a mix of shock, memes, and optimism, with many viewing it as a chance for redemption in a competitive league. Sterling expressed confidence in contributing as a "valued member" of the Rotterdam side. This marks his first club outside England, adding intrigue to the remainder of the Dutch season.
