Persib’s ACL Two Exit Leaves Adam Przybek’s Future in Limbo

Persib Bandung’s elimination in the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League Two has had consequences beyond the team’s continental ambitions. The setback has also cast uncertainty over the future of Welsh goalkeeper Adam Przybek, whose opportunities this season were already extremely limited. For him, the tournament represented a rare window to gain competitive minutes after being sidelined domestically.
Earlier in the campaign, Persib made significant squad adjustments by signing Layvin Kurzawa and Sergio Castel. Their arrivals pushed the club’s foreign player count beyond the league’s permitted quota of 11 in the Liga 1 Indonesia. As a result, Przybek became the unfortunate casualty of the regulation, excluded from domestic competition despite being under contract.
During the first half of the 2025/26 season, Przybek featured only once in league action, a 2–1 defeat against Persita Tangerang. In that match, a costly mistake contributed to the opening goal, as he misjudged a situation outside his penalty area and allowed a free kick from Javlon Guseynov to find the net. The error proved pivotal and seemed to influence subsequent selection decisions.
Following that appearance, his role diminished significantly. Even when first-choice goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam was unavailable for a fixture against Borneo FC Samarinda, Przybek remained on the bench. With domestic minutes scarce and continental hopes now over, his pathway to meaningful playing time has narrowed even further.
According to data from Transfermarkt, Przybek’s contract with Persib runs until May 2027. However, given the current circumstances, he may spend much of that period training without regular competitive exposure. What once seemed like a promising chapter in Indonesia now appears uncertain, with his development and match sharpness hanging in the balance.
