Milan’s Summer Shake-Up: Leão and Pulisic at the Center of Uncertainty

AC Milan are reportedly preparing for a significant overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Rafael Leão and Christian Pulisic emerging as central figures in the potential changes. According to Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano, a major reshaping of the attacking line is increasingly likely. This possibility stems from a combination of contractual complications and inconsistent performances influenced by recurring fitness issues throughout the season.
Under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri, both players were envisioned as key components in a 3-5-2 system. Allegri viewed them as vital pillars capable of driving the team’s offensive ambitions. However, the plan has struggled to fully materialize, largely because injuries have forced each player to spend time on the sidelines at different moments, disrupting continuity and rhythm within the squad.
Despite these setbacks, Leão and Pulisic have each managed to score eight league goals, demonstrating their attacking value when available. Even so, their long-term futures at AC Milan remain uncertain. The club’s management is said to be facing difficulties in negotiating contract renewals with several important players, creating an atmosphere of instability ahead of the transfer window.
Pulisic’s situation appears particularly delicate. Reports suggest that extending the American winger’s contract has proven challenging, opening the door to speculation that Milan could consider selling him if a compelling offer arrives. Financial and strategic considerations may ultimately outweigh the desire to maintain continuity in the squad.
Leão’s position is also no longer untouchable. Once regarded as the team’s most indispensable talent, the Portuguese forward is now subject to closer scrutiny. His recurring injury concerns have raised doubts within both the coaching staff and the club’s leadership. As a result, Milan are expected to carefully evaluate any serious bids for their number 10, signaling that even their brightest stars may not be immune to a broader summer revolution.
