Højlund: "I Need to Practice Penalties More; It's a Big Responsibility but I Enjoy It"

February 7 – In the 24th round of Serie A, Napoli secured a 3-2 away victory over Genoa. In stoppage time, Napoli player Leonardo Vernaghi earned a penalty, which was then converted by Rasmus Højlund. After the match, match-winner Højlund and his teammate Vernaghi spoke to DAZN, Serie A's official broadcaster.
Højlund began by saying:
"I need to practice penalties more. It's a big responsibility. Today’s goal was a bit lucky, but I'm glad it went in. I also want to thank Vernaghi – he's been playing very well lately."
**For your first penalty, that wasn’t too bad, right?**
"I definitely need to practice more, but I enjoy taking on this kind of responsibility."
Following this, Vernaghi was also interviewed:
"That penalty was there. As soon as I felt the contact, I shouted, 'Ah, perfect!' Winning with ten men at the end was very important – it doubles the value of the victory. We never give up; this is a great team. When (Alessandro) Buongiorno makes a mistake, we talk to him right away. The most important thing is staying united."
**Bonucci was in the stands. Do you hope for a national team call-up?**
"I certainly hope so, very much. I regret not performing the way I wanted to, but as long as the team wins, I'm always happy."
